Care Connect Washington relieves COVID-19 impacts across the Olympic region.
Olympic Community of Health (OCH) is a contractor of the WA Department of Health and serves as the regional care coordination hub serving the Olympic Region for Care Connect WA, a program supporting individuals and families who stay home to stop the spread of COVID-19.
From September 1 thru December 31, 2022, 131 families were served, totaling 356 individuals. OCH and our valued contracted care coordination agencies delivered 212 food and care kits for immediate relief, and provided 116 orders of fresh food totaling just under $25,000 to families in isolation across Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties. 99 household assistance requests for things like mortgage and rent assistance, were paid out into the community, totaling nearly $67,000 in relief.
One client shared that Care Connect was ‘life saving’ during her ‘time of crisis’ with COVID-19, and that she doesn't know what she would have done without the support and help of this program. As more community members are served, word of the program is reaching deeper into the communities. Clients commonly share that they learned about this program from their family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers who participated in the program. Many families were connected to the program through their children’s schools or through their healthcare provider. Social media also played a role as people shared photos of the big grocery deliveries they received, inspiring others to participate in the program.
OCH is grateful to continue providing supportive services to people who stay home to stop the spread of COVID-19 through 2023. We believe that a healthy community is a thriving community, and we are all stronger together.
