Back by popular demand, the Clallam-Jefferson Perinatal Mental Health Task Force and First Step Family Support Center threw their 2nd Annual Community Connection Baby Shower!
This event was made possible with sponsorship from Amerigroup, Molina Healthcare, First Step Family Support Center, North Olympic Healthcare Network, Olympic Medical Center, Peninsulas Early Childhood Coalition, Perinatal Support Washington and the City Of Port Angeles.
Over 25 partner organizations, including local medical, behavioral health and family support, and 139 families came together in Port Angeles on Saturday June 10th to support the mental and physical health needs of parents, caregivers, and new families on the Olympic Peninsula. Families left with free baby supplies, information, and tips to support family well-being.
This year’s event featured the following activities:
Olympic Community of Health was invited to emcee this event, and Ren was very happy to hop on the mic! Born and raised in Port Angeles, he felt honored to participate in such a wonderful resource fair and was truly moved to see lifelong community members and old classmates as both the parents enjoying and benefitting from this event, and as the providers bringing this event to life to support their community.
More than a decade ago, First Step Family Support Center was vital to many friends of his in their time of need, and many of the teens who utilized FSFSC services went on to work or volunteer there in adult life. With events like this Annual Community Connection Baby Shower, there is hope for a more equitable future for all families, no matter how or when they start.
